Campaign and Organizing Director

Familia: TQLM is a national transgender and queer Latinx LGBTQ, immigrant rights, and racial justice organization. Our mission is to achieve the collective liberation of the trans and queer Latinx community and our families by engaging in grassroots organizing, advocacy, and education.
Position Summary: The Campaign and Organizing Director will lead Familia: TQLM’s organizing work and is responsible for developing and implementing organizing campaigns, membership and base building strategies, coalition building, and direct action organizing. The Campaign and Organizing Director will work closely with the National Advocate and Community Organizer, the Steering Committee, members of the organization, and will report directly to the Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

⦁ Oversees and facilitates the development of action campaigns, developing effective organizing plans and coordinating campaign activities and actions.
⦁ Develops, coordinates and implements membership and base-building efforts and strategies including: creating membership recruitment strategies, meeting individually with members and potential members, organizing and conducting recurrent membership meetings, and troubleshooting members concerns.
⦁ Prepares members to become the spokespeople for campaigns and to attend and actively participate in accountability meetings with policy makers.
⦁ Serves as liaison with LGBTQ, immigrant rights, and racial justice advocacy groups.
⦁ Maintains relationships and communicates regularly with existing key community partners and is responsible for building and managing new collaborations.
⦁ Works with Executive Director to coordinate fundraising efforts.

Qualifications:

⦁ At last 3-5 years of community organizing experience and has demonstrated success in particular organizing campaigns.
⦁ Experience working and collaborating with trans & queer Latinx communities, including LGBTQ undocumented Latinxs.
⦁ Experience with coalition building work at the local and national level.
⦁ Bilingual English/Spanish fluency required.
⦁ Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
⦁ Strong interpersonal, organizational and conflict resolution skills.
⦁ Strong leadership abilities with the ability to work in a team setting and successfully manage multiple responsibilities at once.
