Not1More LGBTQ Deportation Campaign
Familia: Trans Queer Liberation Movement coordinates national LGBTQ actions and events to denounce the more then 2 million deportations under the Obama administration and to highlight the impacts these deportations have on the lives of LGBTQ undocumented immigrants, as part of the Not1More campaign. These are joint efforts in collaboration with National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), Southerners on a New Ground (SONG) and the Immigrant Youth Justice League (IYJL) The campaign began with Familia: TQLM’s “Liberation NOT Deportation” LGBTQ immigrant rights rally in May in Santa Ana, California that resulted in the arrest of 5 trans and queer Latin@ leaders.
Familia: Trans Queer Liberation Movement in collaboration with Lambda Legal, DeColores Queer Orange County and La Familia launched our family acceptance program focused on the Latin@ family community. Our family acceptance work educates Latino families about the experiences of the LGBTQ community, increases the support of Latino families for the LGBTQ community and aims to establish a Latino family acceptance support network locally and nationally.
Familia: Trans Queer Liberation, the TransLatin@ Coalition, El/La Para TransLatinas and many other community based LGBTQA organizations are coming together locally and nationally to bring urgency to the systemic violence & murders the trans community faces daily and that have taken place for many years now in the U.S. and internationally. This has been most recently been highlighted by the violent and rampant incidences that have taken place over these past several months.
